Max Lovell-Hoare (final year chemistry student at the University of Surrey
when this project was done) designed and built a plasma fullerene generator.
The apparatus was designed so that graphite powder could be vapoursied in a
plasma. The use of powder might mean that such a device could be used for
continuous production of fullerenes. The CSC advised him along the way and
provided some equipment and expertese during the project. Max made his first
test runs in the Sussex labs. Max is now a post graduate student at Surrey.
The picture shows Max Lovell-Hoare making test runs of his plasma generator
in the Creative Science Centre laboratory.
